A drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between two rival groups at Whykong union under Teknaf Upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Shabuddin, 42, son of Abdur Rahman of the union.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station Pradip Kumar said that Sahab Uddin was an active member of a drug-smuggling group. More than four cases were filed against him.
On information that a gunfight took place between two groups of smugglers over distributing Yaba pills, police went to the spot. At that time, the smugglers left the place. Later, police recovered 24000 of yaba pills, two local made rifles and seven rounds of bullets from the spot.
