The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-9) detained a drug peddler with 9,890 yaba tablets from Bijoynagar in Brahmanbaria on Friday.
The identity of the detainee is M Anwar Mia, 40, resident of Kalishima Chullabari under Chandura union of Bijoynagar Upazila of the district.
RAB-9 confirmed the matter to the media through a press conference.
RAB-9 Media Officer Assistant Police Superintendent Moshihur Rahman Sohel said acting on a tip-off, a drive was conducted at Kalishima village on Friday morning. During the drive, the drug peddler was held with 9,890 yaba tablets.
Later, a case was filed against him with Bijoynagar Police Station and the drugs were handed over to police. Such drives of RAB will continue to implement the zero tolerance policy of the government against drugs, he added.
