Drug peddler held with 475 bottles of Phensedyl in Jhenaidah

The DB police arrested a drug peddler with 475 bottles of a consignment of Phensedyl syrup from Balinagar area under Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah on Tuesday night.

The arrested was identified as Khairul slam, alias Asadul, 30, son of Nur Bakhs of Mathabhangapara in same upazila, said the police sources.

Superintendent of Police (SP) in Jhenaidah Hasanuzaaman in a press briefing at his office on Wednesday morning said the policemen were informed that a consignment of Indian contra banned drug phensedyl was smuggled in the Bangladesh. The consignment in a bag was carried by three drug vendors.

As per the information, the detective branch police men led by DB officer in charge (OC) Anwar Hossain challenged the trio setting a check post. Two of the drug vendors managed to flee, while the law enforcers caught Asadul with the said contra banned. Sub inspectors Selim Reza and Abdul Alim accompanied the team.

A case was filed with Moheshpur police station in this connection and the detained along with the seized contra banned was handed over to police, SP said.
