The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel of Jhenaidah-6 camp detained a drug peddler with contraband Phensedyl syrup from Moheshpur Upazila in Jhenaidah on Thursday.
The detainee was identified as Zia Hossain, 45, son of late Afar Biswas, resident of Kanaidanga village in the Upazila.
RAB-6 camp commander Major Naim Ahmed said they were informed that some drug peddlers were selling contraband Phensedyl syrup among local drug dealers. The law enforcers took position to nab the miscreants on Thursday morning. As the drug peddlers were engaged in the trade, the RAB men swooped on them and managed to nab one of the drug peddlers Zia Hossain, while others manage to flee.
Later, the RAB personnel seized 281 bottles of Phensedyl from the detainee.
The RAB official said they handed over the detained person to the police. A case was filed with Moheshpur police station in this connection.
