A court in Jhenaidah awarded one with life imprisonment to acquitted two others in a narcotics case on Wednesday.
Judge MG Azam of the additional sessions judge’s court handed the verdict in absentia.
The convict was identified as Liton, son of late Shahadat Hossain of Dhanyakhola area in Benapole of Jashorte, according to the court sources. Liton has been absconding for a long since he was released from jail on bail.
According to the prosecution, police detained the drug peddler Liton with 100 grams of contraband heroin from Mobarakganj sugar mills on January 12, 2009.
The detained had named two of his associates Imran and Jahangir during police interrogation.
The investigation officer on February 2 next had submitted his report to the court.
After patience hearing the court had awarded Liton for life in the imprisonment, while released the two others Imran and Jahangir when they were not found guilty.
