Kanij Fatema Liza, Executive Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenidah, jailed a drug addict for thee months and burnt the hemp seized from his house in presence of the officials of the narcotics department and locals in public.
UNO office sources said Liza conducted a mobile court when the narcotics department officials detained a man named Kalu Ali Sheikh, son of Soleman Sheikh of Fazelpur village under Shailkupa municipality on Wednesday morning with eight sacks of the contra-banned item from his resident.
Narcotics department inspectors Milan Mukharjee and Abul Kalam Azad, Sub Inspector Papia Sultana and Assistant Sub Inspector Jasmin Ara among others were present during the verdict delivery.
