Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), the platform of reporters working in Dhaka, celebrated its 24th founding anniversary on Sunday in a joyous environment.
To mark the day, the DRU have chalked out various programmes including hoisting national flag as well as organization’s own flag atop on DRU premises at 11:00 am, inaugurating programmes through releasing balloons and pigeons, conducting rally at 11.30 am, holding discussion and memorial meeting at 4:00 pm and cutting cake at 6:00 pm.
DRU President Elias Hossain and General Secretary Kabir Ahmed Khan and other leaders attended the programmes. They inaugurated the day’s progrmame in the morning
An Iftar party and doa Mahfil was also held on the DRU premises at Shegun Bagicha area in the capital. Members of the platform and invited guests from various professions joined the Iftar party.
A special munajat was also offered before the Iftar.
The DRU was established on May 26 in 1995 in order to establishing the rights of the reporters, working in various media of the capital, Dhaka and also to promote professional progress with dignity.
At present, the number of DRU members is around 1800.
