Nabinagar Assistant Commissioner Land and Executive Magistrate Md Mosharraf Hossain has launched an eviction drive against the construction of permanent structures by occupying the land of government canal in the area adjacent to Battali bus stand in Zindpur union of Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. On Tuesday afternoon, he conducted the eviction operation in collaboration with Nabinagar police. It is learned that Noor Alam, a resident of Merkuta village of the upazila, started the construction work of 5-6 shops at a time by ignoring an influential rule of law. Besides, construction of equipment, bricks, sand, surki and rods along the important roads like Nabinagar to Kompaniganj road was disrupted. The matter was brought to the notice of the Assistant Commissioner of Land Md. Mosharraf Hossain who actually conducted the eviction drive. When no one was found at the spot, all the construction materials were confiscated in favor of the state and some of the goods were kept in the custody of a former local UP member. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Land Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain instructed the person to remove the sandbags within a day when a person filled the same canal with sandbags and occupied the canal in Merkuta area.
Assistant Commissioner Land and Executive Magistrate Md. Mosharraf Hossain said, "I rushed to the spot and stopped the construction work. I confiscated all the construction materials and confiscated them in favor of the state." He further added that the eviction campaign against the occupiers of government lands would continue on a regular basis.
