The government is resolute in its mission to provide mobile services of international standards. In alignment with this goal, a drive test to evaluate the mobile phone network commenced in Cox's Bazar the following week after the announcement. State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak observed the drive test conducted by BTRC at the Cox's Bazar railway station area on Friday.

During a subsequent exchange of views with journalists, State Minister Palak said, “We aim to ensure customer satisfaction by addressing issues such as call drops, blank connections, adequate mobile internet speed, and affordable internet. To achieve this, a technical team has been established to monitor the service quality provided by mobile operators and related entities.”

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought electricity and internet to every home. Now, we want to enhance their value. In continuation of this, we are conducting drive tests nationwide,” Palak added.

“We will not tie the hands and feet of the operators and throw them into the river to teach them to swim; instead, we will teach them how to swim and give them the ability to cross the river,” he said.

Addressing customer dissatisfaction, he added, “Call drops have become routine, and our mobile customers are unhappy about this. According to BTRC’s test reports, the quality of service is not very satisfactory. We aim to present a smart telecom ecosystem to Bangladesh and rise to global benchmarks.”

The state minister further said that millions of local and foreign tourists visit here annually. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has developed a train station and an international airport to elevate this tourist hub to world-class standards. Additionally, Tk 170 crore has been allocated for the construction of a hi-tech park in Cox’s Bazar. The region has been equipped with uninterrupted electricity, high-speed internet, and road-rail-airway connections to make it a globally attractive tourist destination.
