Joint operations are being conducted through separate mobile courts in different parts of the city to ensure smooth implementation of the bus route rationalization activities.
During the operation, two buses were dumped due to not having route permit and a total of Tk 50,000 has been collected in 15 cases for violating various sections of the Road Transport Act till Friday.
The measures were taken through a mobile court operation jointly organized by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and BRTA.
DSCC’s Executive Magistrate Abdus Samad Sikder and BRTA's Executive Magistrate Fakhrul Islam conducted two raids at Gulistan intersection and BRTA's Executive Magistrate Shakila Binte Matin at the Shankar bus stand.
During the operation, two buses of Shomoy Paribahan and T-Three Paribahan were dumped due to not having route permit.
DSCC officials said that such drives will be conducted every now and then in order to maintain the discipline of the service.
The systematic process of transport is working to make travelling in the capital more efficient however, it is essential to keep the standard of the service consistent and make sure all sorts of issues be dealt with as soon as possible.
The bus service named ‘Dhaka Nagar Paribahan’ officially started operating on the designated route under the Route Rationalization Project around the end of last year.
The project is providing service on the routes from Ghatarchar to Mohammadpur, Jhigatala, Dhanmondi, Press Club, Jatrabari and Kanchpur on a daily basis through over 155 buses under eight names.
