Merchandise for ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’ may confirm the return of Gohan’s Mystic/Ultimate Form in the upcoming anime film. As the half-breed Saiyan son of Goku and Chi-Chi, Gohan was first introduced in ‘Dragon Ball Z’. Gohan, whose latent potential helped to defeat Perfect Cell, was once poised to usurp his father as the strongest Z Fighter. After being the first to unlock ‘Super Saiyan 2’ as a teenager, Gohan achieved an even stronger “Ultimate” form during the Buu saga.
Ignoring Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Super’s anime run sidelined Gohan in favor of Goku and Vegeta, who are the primary focus of the series. Not only did Gohan slack off on his training, but when he did fight, he relied on his Super Saiyan transformations instead of the superior form unconnected to his Saiyan heritage. It wasn’t until the final saga that Gohan regained his Ultimate form while training with Piccolo. The most recent trailers for Super Hero imply that Gohan will play a major role in combating the Red Ribbon Army’s newest Androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. However, many fans were surprised to see Gohan relying on his Super Sayian form(s) once again.
On Twitter, Herms98 recently shared images of some Super Hero merchandise that seemingly confirms the film’s inclusion of Ultimate Gohan. It shows Gohan sporting a costume inspired by his look during the" Cell Saga," both with and without glasses. The latter art is listed as “Ultimate Gohan.”
Before Super’s Tournament of Power, Gohan made a conscious decision not to go Super Saiyan when fighting Goku. Using his Ultimate form, he told Goku that his new goal was to achieve a form that no Saiyan has ever unlocked.
