Dr Mohammad Azam, an associate professor in the department of Bengali at the Dhaka University, has been appointed as the Director General of Bangla Academy.
A notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim of the Ministry of Public Administration, issued in this regard on Thursday.
Professor Azam has been appointed for a three-year term, effective from the date of joining, with the condition that he would sever all ties with other institutions and organizations, according to the notice.
Dr Mohammad Azam has completed his graduation and post graduation from the Department of Bengali at Dhaka University.
He earned his PhD degree through research on the colonisation and decolonization of the Bengali language.
