A new gold medal titled “Dr Md Azizul Hakim Gold Medal” has been introduced at the Department of Information Science and Library Management of Dhaka University (DU). Asuma Begum, wife of late Dr Md Azizul Hakim handed over a cheque for Taka 10 lac to DU Treasurer Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin on Wednesday at the Vice-Chancellor’s (VC) office to introduce this gold medal.
VC of DU Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Dean of the faculty of Arts, Professor Dr Abu Md Delwar Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Information Science and Library Management, Professor Dr Kazi Mostak Gausul Hoq, Acting Registrar, Md Enamuzzaman, some other faculty members and donor’s family members were present, among others, on this occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student of DU, Information Science and Library Management Department who will secure the highest CGPA in BA Honors examination will be given “Dr Md Azizul Hakim Gold Medal”.
Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman thanked the donor for her donation and hoped that the students of Information Science and Library Management Department would be inspired by this initiative.
It may be mentioned that Dr Md Azizul Hakim was born on January 4, 1949 in Kushtia and died on October 4, 2012 in Khulna. He had obtained both MA and PhD degrees from the Department of Information Science and Library Management of Dhaka University.
