The Super League of Dhaka Premier League will begin from May 1, confirmed by Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) Chairman Salah Uddin Chowdhury on Tuesday.
Due to the continuous high temperature and heat waves the CCDM have delayed the super league stage. Abahani's coach Khaled Mahmud also complained about it yesterday.
Apart from this, the authorities have also kept a day off with a reserve day. The tournament will end on May 14 with 5 rounds of Super League and Relegation League.
Salah Uddin Chowdhury confirmed that these decisions have been taken after discussions with the club authorities.
“Today we had a meeting with the team and officials who will play in the Super League and relegation. After talking to the club officials, we have decided that the Super League will start on May 1. There will be one reserve day and one day of rest,” said Salah Uddin.
“Basically because of the heat we are taking a long break. Besides, the clubs also wanted to take a break. If everything goes well, the Premier League will end on May 14, the relegation league will end on May 9," he added.
Meanwhile, Salah Uddin Chowdhury said that the Super League and relegation matches will be played in 4 venues,
“One venue will hold all the relegation matches only. The Super League will be played in the other three venues. If we run the game at 4 venues, our reserve day and rest day will not be hampered,” he added.'
Mohammedan Sporting Club, Abahani Limited, Legends of Rupganj, Prime Bank Cricket Club, Gazi Group Cricketers and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club have qualified to play in the Super League.
