International Day of Persons with Disabilities was celebrated at Chittagong University on Sunday.
To mark the day, leaders of Disabled Students' Society of Chittagong University (DISSCU) paid a courtesy call on the university Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shireen Akhter on Sunday afternoon.
At that time, CU Proctor Dr. Mohammad Nurul Azim Sikder and General Secretary of DISSCU Md. Maidul Islam, Joint General Secretary Md. Rashedul Sheikh, Executive Committee members and general members were also present.
CU VC said persons with disabilities are a part of society. It is possible to make them active if everyone extends helping hand from their own position without considering the disabled as a burden in the society.
She advised the students with disabilities not to suffer from inferiority complex but to focus on their studies and qualifications.
Later, the leaders of Disabled Students’ Society paid tribute by placing floral wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Square.
