Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) in Chuadanga on Sunday fined Tk 200,000 to a company named Bangas Limited for making food items in unhygienic condition disregarding the regulations.
Assistant Director of Chaudanga DNCRP, Sajal Ahmed, conducted a drive at Chuadanga town on Sunday noon. Bangas Limited was fined during the drive.
Sajal Ahmed said that although the company had been previously warned, it was found to be producing food products in an unhygienic manner during Sunday's drive. It was found that various biscuits and bread were being prepared and the workers were placing the food items on unhygienic materials such as newspaper, printed papers, cardboard, even on the dirty floor. Employees were not following proper health protocols. The raw materials for biscuit production were stored in dirty and unhygienic bags. Old and dirty bread and broken biscuits were being soaked in water and mixed with new food products. Despite using various chemicals in the food, there was no qualified chemist overseeing the process. Other irregularities were also observed.
