Officials of the directorate of national consumer rights protection (DNCRP) in Jhenaidah had fined six business establishments for an amount of Taka 12,560 for their alleged involvement in selling the essential commodities in higher prices.
The drives were conducted at egg, fertilizer, edible oil and meats selling shops on Thursday noon.
DNCRP Jhenaidah district assistant director Ziaul Haque said they conducted drives at six business shops Natun Hatlhola, Haterrasta and some other places where the traders were selling the commodities with higher prices.
He himself led the team of mobile court where a number of law enforcers were present.
The businessmen were also warned not to sell the essential commodities that add sufferings to the life of the common people.
The businessmen were ignoring the government directives to run their business honestly, DNCRP assistant director said.
