Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has pledged to remove sacrificial animal waste within six hours on Eid day.
Mayor Atiqul Islam made this commitment while inaugurating the addition of 32 new drum trucks and 8 compactor trucks to DNCC's waste management fleet on Wednesday.
The DNCC has distributed 10,40,000 polythene bags, along with Dettol and Phenyl, to city residents for collecting sacrificial animal waste. On Eid day, 9,500 workers will be deployed to manage the cleanup, according to Mayor Atiq.
Mayor Atiq highlighted that this year, for the first time, Dhaka North City has purchased these waste management vehicles with its own funds. The new fleet, costing Tk 30 crore, includes 32 drum trucks from India and 8 compactor trucks from Japan. An additional 20 trucks from Japan will be acquired next year.
The mayor also noted that the new vehicles have increased DNCC's capacity to remove an additional 350 tons of waste per day.
