DNCC has introduced a digital transaction system at the Cattle Market ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, aiming to alleviate the challenges faced by both buyers and sellers. The service was officially launched on Wednesday afternoon at a ceremony held in the conference room of DNCC Nagar Bhaban.
During the event, DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam emphasised the significance of this cashless digital transaction system, ensuring secure transactions for all involved parties.
He highlighted DNCC's commitment to expanding paperless, smart digital services, such as online payment of holding taxes and the issuance of trade licences. By prioritising online services, the mayor aims to reduce citizens' hardships and enhance the accountability of the City Corporation.
Mayor Atiqul Islam noted the substantial monetary transactions occurring at the sacrificial animal market. The implementation of the digital transaction system aims to mitigate risks associated with cash transactions, including the handling of counterfeit or damaged notes and potential extortion.
He further said that the system will facilitate the immediate transfer of funds from buyers' to sellers' accounts, eliminating the need for cash transactions.
Buyers can conveniently use debit or credit cards, ATM booths, POS machines, mobile financial services, or QR code-based payments to purchase sacrificial animals, while sellers can receive payments through the same digital channels.
