Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is going to declare the area adjacent to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and one and a half kilometer north-south area as 'Silent Zone'.
Dhaka North City Corporation informed it on Friday.
Earlier, DNCC Administrator Mahmudul Hasan issued an order in this regard and said that the matter will be effective from October 1 and also sent a letter to all the concerned departments.
In the letter, he mentioned that according to the Noise Pollution Control Rules, 2006, the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area and its north-south one and a half kilometer area (from Scholastica School to Hotel La Meridien) has been declared as a Silent Zone. This will be effective from October 1.
The letter has already been sent to various departments including Public Safety Department, Road Transport and Highways Department, Local Government Department, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Civil Aviation Authority, Directorate of Environment, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority
