DMP police bomb disposal unit recovered and defused 123 cocktails in 10 bags found on the side of a road in Akalbarish area of Shariatpur on Monday.
The team defused the cocktails in an open field on Monday evening.
Earlier in the morning, locals noticed these bags lying in Uttar Akalbarish area of Dhankati union. They informed the police by calling 999.
According to the police, locals saw 10 handbags lying on the roadside in Akalbarish area on Monday morning. They noticed some cocktails inside two of the bags, which prompted them to call the police. Upon receiving the report, police visited the scene.
Later, the incident was reported to the army, and a special team arrived at the location. In the evening, a specialized team from the DMP's bomb disposal unit arrived, recovered the cocktails, and deactivated them.
Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Mushfiqur Rahman (Bhedarganj Circle) said that some miscreants left the ten bags filled with cocktails in the roadside bushes. On information, both the police and the army secured the area. The DMP's counter-terrorism unit’s bomb disposal team reached the spot after that and recovered the bags. They found 123 cocktails inside them. The team then moved the cocktails 300 yards away to a safe location and detonated them. An investigation will be conducted to determine the purpose behind leaving the cocktails, and legal action will be taken regarding this incident.
