DIU Chairman receives honorary doctorate from Caucasus University

In appreciation of special achievements in education sector and recognition of great contribution to the development of Caucasus University’s international position and the distinguished service to Georgia, as well as in recognition of his vision to skill management to imbibe the spirit of entrepreneurship among the youth and digital transformation of the society, the Management of Caucasus University (CU), Tbilisi, Georgia conferred the Honorary Doctor of Caucasus University (Doctor Honoris Causa) upon Dr Md Sabur Khan, founder and chairman, Daffodil International University (DIU), Bangladesh on Friday at the annual graduation ceremony of Caucasus University.

The degree was awarded by Dr Kakha Shengelia, president, CU in presence of Archil Talakvadze, chairperson of the parliament. Kakha Kaladze, mayor, Tbilisi, Georgia, Dr Sue Henderson, president, New Jersey City University, Speaker of the House in the parliament of the Georgia, a couple of Deputy Chairmen of the Georgian Parliamentary Board and other distinguished Members of Parliament were also present on the occasion.

Dr Khan was given the cordial reception as per the tradition of Caucasus University and Georgia. Over 1000 graduating students joined the degree awarding programme.

With a view to making a self-employed and self-dependable generation, Dr Khan aims to create more job opportunities with his innovative initiatives like: business incubator, startups and venture capital the Department of Entrepreneurship at the university level are notable in promoting entrepreneurship. He has been a visiting professor at some foreign universities, including Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Kyrgyzstan. He has been awarded with some fellowship and honorary doctorate.

As the resource person, Dr Khan has delivered many public lectures, corporate and motivational talks, interviews and talk shows in the media since the beginning of his significant career of more than 28 years. He has published several books on entrepreneurship in two languages and is conducting classes in different universities on entrepreneurship development. He has been involved with social welfare through Daffodil Foundation and Daffodil Institute of Social Sciences (DISS).
