Monitoring and mobile courts have been conducted in Riazuddin Bazar of Chattogram to keep the market price of essential commodities stable.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Umar Faruq and Assistant Commissioner Prateek Dutta Riazuddin conducted raids in the market from 11 am to 2 pm on Wednesday from 11 am to 2 pm.
On the other hand, Assistant Commissioner (Lands) and Executive Magistrate Masud Rana conducted raids in Kazi's Dewri market.
During this time, a wide discrepancy can be observed in the purchase and sale prices of goods in rice shops, grocery shops, and vegetable markets. Most of the shopkeepers could not show the purchase receipt.
During market monitoring and operation of mobile court, selling products at higher prices than fixed prices and not having price list of products, cautioned multiple establishments under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 and fined a total of Tk 4000 Fined and warned. All the shopkeepers are warned about not stocking the products. In the inspection, the price list of daily essential products including edible oil, cylinder gas, rice, sugar, onion, dates, vegetables, fish market, beef market, poultry, purchase and sale receipts were inspected. Monitoring will be done at Khatunganj sugar warehouse and Falmundi later.
Meanwhile, Additional District Magistrate Rakib Hasan said that the sale of daily essential products beyond the fixed price and other products are being monitored whether they are being sold at the right price. Such operations will continue to stabilize the price of daily necessities in the market and ensure safe food.
Executive Magistrate Umar Faruq said that some unscrupulous traders try to increase the price of goods when the month of Ramadan comes. As a result we have already started the campaign. Strict action will be taken against those who tamper as per the rules.
Executive Magistrate Masud Rana said a fruit shop was fined Tk 3,000 for not displaying the price list during the raid. In addition, the Digital Batkhara of all shops is checked by BSTI representative. Verification of purchase and sale price receipts, verification of expiry of various packaged products, price verification of various daily essential products including sugar, dates, gram and oil. At this time, a shop in Sanmar was fined Tk 5,000 and other restaurants were warned.
