Local administration in Shariatpur has started to distribute relief materials to low income group of people on the back drop of Corona virus spread throughout the country.
It is learnt; Deputy Commissioner of Shariatpur Kazi Abu Taher himself arrived at the house of one distressed Sultan Khan at ward-2 of Rudrakar union and handed him over 10-kgs of rice, one kg pulse, five kg potato, one kg salt and a piece of soap. He was accompanied by Shariatpur sadar upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahbubur Rahman Sheikh, Assistant Commissioner) land) Fatema Khatun and Chairman of Rudrakar union Parisahd habibur Rahman Dhali.
While talking to the journalists, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Abu Taher said, the Disaster and Relief Ministry was working to ensure that the distressed people do not suffer from the want of food. He further said, the government will carry foods house to house to some 700 distressed family members of the upazila.
On the other hand, germicide is being sprayed in roads and alleys to resist spread of Corona virus. Local Member of Parliament Parvin Haque Shikder along with the members of Shariatpur Municipality, district police and armed forces were seen to supervise the spraying of germicide throughout various hats and markets of the district. So far, 342 people have been kept under home quarantine in the district, sources informed.
Mahbubur Rahman Sheikh, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Shariatpur informed, police and armed forces members in cooperation with Executive Magistrates were jointly working to ensure the people to stay inside their houses.
