Country’s business leaders on Wednesday demanded to dissolve the boards of trade bodies elected or selected during the past government including the apex trade board of FBCCI and appoint an administrator.
The requested the interim government to immediately change the leadership at the trade bodies in which still the old board members exist otherwise the reform program of the government will not be a success. The demand was made at a sit-in program organized by the general body members of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) in front of the federation bhaban, Matijheel in the capital. Renowned business leader, former FBCCI Director Abul Kashem Haider said FBCCI has been made a political unit in the past.
“Ordinary members could not speak. Leaders were always busy to please the government that's why the industry was becoming weaker day by day. Due to the looting of S. Alam, the banking sector is collapsing, while the businessmen are not getting loans”, Kashem added.
