Gas-based power generation is being disrupted due to technical fault in the LNG terminal located at Maheshkhali in Cox's Bazar causing disruption in gas supply. As a result, there may be load shedding in different regions of the country, said the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, said a press release of the Ministry.
Due to technical fault at the terminal, gas supply was disrupted in six districts including Chittagong, Comilla, Narayanganj. Household customers suffer from sudden disruptions without prior notice from distribution companies. The production of gas based industries is also disrupted a lot.
The six districts include Chittagong under Karnaphuli Distribution Company (KGDCL), Comilla, Noakhali, Feni and Laxmipur in Bakhrabad and Narayanganj in Titas. A major portion of the LNG supplied to the national grid is supplied to these districts.
However, expressing regret for this temporary problem, the ministry said that work is going on to solve the problem quickly.
