Discussion on UP election held in Gopalganj

In the fifth phase, general election of 15 Union Parishads out of 21 Union Parishads under Gopalganj Sadar Upazila will be held on 5 January. On the occasion of Union Parishad Election-2021, an exchange meeting has been held with the contesting candidates regarding the observance of code of conduct.

Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Rashedur Rahman presided over the meeting at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Memorial Auditorium on Friday morning.

District Superintendent of Police Ayesha Siddique PPM, District Election Officer Muhammad Faizul Mollah, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Khairul Alam, Gopalganj Sadar police officer in charge Monirul Islam and other attended the meeting

Additional District Magistrate Iqbal Hossain, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Milon Saha, Executive Magistrate Mamun Khan, Returning Officer. Second Sheikh, Sohail Md. Zillur Rahman Reagan, S. M. Arman, S. M. Morshed, Jyoti Prakash Mallick, Chairman candidate in Union Parishad elections, reserved members and general members along with media personnel working in print and electronic media in the district were present.

During the exchange of views, all the contesting candidates were instructed to conduct their election campaign in full compliance with the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Bangladesh (EC).

Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana, who was the chief guest at the exchange of views, said that the general elections of 14 Union Parishads of Kashiani Upazila were held in the second phase on November 14 and 18 Union Parishads of Muksudpur Upazila in the third phase on November 28 in a free, fair and peaceful manner. 

Similarly, the administration is determined to hold peaceful elections in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila on January 5 in the 5th phase. He sought the full cooperation of all to conduct the UP elections in a free, fair, neutral and peaceful manner.
