A literature fair will be held in Jamalpur on October 19 and 20 under the Ministry of Culture to create a renaissance of stagnant literary and cultural practices.
On this occasion, a preparatory meeting was held at Jamalpur District Commissioner's conference room on Tuesday. It was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Sravasti Roy. In the meeting held at 3 o'clock, prominent poet Jamalpur Zilla Parishad elected unopposed chairman lawyer Muhammad Baki Billah gave a guiding speech.
Among others, Additional District Executive Hakeem Abdullah Al Mamun, District Awami League Vice President Syed Atiqur Rahman Chana and others participated in the discussion. More than half a hundred poets, writers, dramatists and cultural workers who participated in the meeting expressed different opinions. Prime Minister's former principal secretary Abul Kalam Azad will be present as the chief guest on the opening day of the two-day literature fair. Apart from this, distinguished poet Muhammad Samad, professor of Dhaka University, prominent writer and liberation war researcher Harun Habib will be invited as guests.Prominent writers of Jamalpur. Apart from this, steps will be taken to list and invite the poets and writers of Jamalpur who are living in different parts of the country to earn a living. In this case, a massive campaign will be taken on Facebook and other media. Several sub-committees were formed to make the Sahitya Mela a success. The conveners of each subcommittee shall hold separate meetings with their members. Additional District Executive Judge Abdullah Al Mamun Babu will supervise the overall preparation. Besides, it is known that Deputy Commissioner Sravasti Roy and lawyer Baki Billah will closely monitor the progress of the preparations. The two-day literature fair is divided into 7 phases including the opening ceremony. Discussions on books published by local authors, reading and recitation of poems, stories Readings, flute and music performances etc. To make the Sahitya Mela colorful, the sub-committee as well as all those present are called upon to perform the duties of volunteers.
