A discussion program on anti-ragging was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday. The University authorities arranged the meeting at the conference room of the university administration building.
IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam addressed the program as a chief guest while Proctor Professor Dr Shahadat Hossain Azad, convener of the anti-ragging vigilance committee was in the chair. IU treasurer Professor Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya attended the program as a special guest and acting registrar HM Ali Hasan was an honorable guest.
IU student adviser Professor Dr Shelina Nasrin, transport administrator Professor Dr Anwarul Haque, differences department chairman, faculties of dean, and hall provosts were present at the discussion program. They delivered their comments to prevent raging activities from the campus. They mentioned that the Gonoroom and doubling seat systems should be removed from the hall and calling on central or departmentally counseling and orientation programs should be organized to create self-criticism and psychoanalyzing change in the students. IU Vice-Chancellor Shaikh Abdus Salam said that psychoanalysing change of the students should be ensured and punishment should be ensured over ragging to prevent ragging activities. The custodian should give preventive efforts so that the ragging activities do not occur at any stage on the campus.
"The department teachers, deans, student advisors and proctors should play the role in this regard,” he added.
