A discussion meeting was held to protect mother hilsa at Gaoudia Govt Primary School ground in Louhjung, Munshiganj, with the slogan "Protect mother hilsa, build a country rich in hilsa". Narayanganj region of Naval Police organized a discussion meeting at 4:30 pm on Tuesday.
Additional DIG of Naval Police Headquarters Shafiqul Islam spoke as the chief guest in the meeting under the chairmanship of Narayanganj Police Superintendent Mina Mahmud. Superintendent of Police Kamruzzaman of Naval Police Chandpur Region, Superintendent of Police Motazzel Hossain of Police Headquarters, Md Abdul Awal, Louhjong Upazila Nirbahi Officer, OC Abdullah Al Taybir of Louhjong Police Station spoke as special guests. Munnaf Ali, in-charge of Mawa Naval Police, Faridul Islam senior fisheries officer of Louhjong Upazila, Zahirul Islam in-charge of Majhikandi Naval Police, Shahidul Islam Fakir Chairman of Gaoudia Union, Shahidul Islam President of Small Fishermen Association also spoke at this time.
In the exchange meeting, the speakers gave guidance on the issue of fishermen not going down to fish in the river during the ban on hilsa fishing and administration.
It should be noted that the government has banned catching, carrying and storing hilsa from October 7-28.
