Monwar Khokon, director of 'Swapner Purush', has died at a hospital in the capital's Uttara on Sunday (February 7) at 6:30 am (Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un). Kabirul Islam Rana, organizing secretary of the Bangladesh Film Directors Association, director Mostafizur Rahman Manik confirmed the matter. Monwar Khokon has directed numerous films in the nineties and zero decades. However, the films 'Swami Ken Asami' and 'Meyerao Manush' have given him a special place.
He said Monwar Khokon Bhai (brother) had been suffering from various diseases including kidney complications for a long time. He left us today. His death caused great loss to the movie arena. I express my deepest grief and sorrow on behalf of the Board of Directors. Monwar Khokon made his big-screen directorial debut in 1992 with the film 'Lakshmi's Family'. He gained huge popularity by making movies like 'Swami Keno Asami', 'Meyerao Manush' and 'Swapner Purush'. His notable films are 'Sangsarer Sukh-Dukh', 'Ghat Pratighat', 'Ekti Songsarer Golpo', 'Khuni Sikdar', 'Kasom Banglar Mati', 'Mayer Hater Bala', 'Jiddi', ' Banglabhai 'etc.
