Dinajpur boasts 4 women UNOs for the first time

Out of 13 Upazilas of Dinajpur district, four Upazilas have four women Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs). They are performing their duties efficiently in their respective Upazilas. Dinajpur have not seen four women UNO in the past. They are also working at a fast pace. Dinajpur residents are happy to get women UNOs.

Chanda Paul is working as the executive officer of Bochaganj upazila of Dinajpur from July 5, 2020. She completed SSC from Khulna Coronation School, HSC from Khulna Government Women's College and Honors and Masters in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET). She joined the public works cadre in the 31st BCS. After that she passed the administration cadre in 33rd BCS and in August 2014 she joined the Rangpur Deputy Commissioner's Office as Assistant Commissioner. She joined Bonchaganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dinajpur on 5 July 2020.

While serving as a UNO as a woman, she said that she did not face any obstacle in any work. While performing her duties here, she has received and is receiving the cooperation of local MP, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and officials and employees of all departments of the upazila. For this she is feeling comfortable in performing this administrative duty.

Ayesha Siddique has been serving as the Upazila Nirbahi Officer at Chirirbandar in Dinajpur since November 19, 2019. After passing SSC and HSC from Mymensingh Cadet College, Ayesha Siddique completed Honors and Masters in English from Dhaka University. She later worked as a journalist for the Daily Sun and the Financial Express. She later joined the administration cadre in the 31st BCS and joined Comilla Collectorate in 2013 as Assistant Commissioner. She joined as the Upazila Nirbahi Officer on 19 November 2019 at Chirirbandar in Dinajpur. Regarding her experience of performing her duties as Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Ayesha Siddique said, “I have not faced any problem while performing this administrative duty as a woman.”

She said there is no difference between men and women in administrative work. Because women can do no less than what a man can do in administration. She also works day and night as a woman. Having passed from Cadet College, it has become easier for her to face many challenges while performing administrative duties. Every work can be done well if you work with creative thinking. She is fulfilling her responsibility with this thought.

Rashida Akhter has been working as Khansama Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dinajpur since October 28, 2021. She completed SSC from Brahmanvita High School, Tongibari Upazila, HSC from Government Harganga College, Munshiganj District and Bachelor's (Honors) and Master's Degree in Botany from Titumir College, Dhaka. 

Rashida Begum was the first to join the Rajshahi Collectorate after passing the administration cadre in the 31st BCS., Rashida Begum joined Khansama Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dinajpur on 28 October 2021. Rashida Akhter, who has the experience of being the executive head of an upazila, said that women are no longer left behind in the society. They are no less responsible than the way a man is.

She said she has never been hindered in performing this duty as a woman; On the contrary, she got the cooperation of everyone. As the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, this woman officer expressed her satisfaction in being able to do every work on time. Afsana Kawsar joined as a Birla Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dinajpur on March 6 this year. Earlier, Afsana Kawsar was the Upazila Nirbahi Officer twice in that upazila. She joined Birla as a UNO for the third time in a row. After passing the administration cadre in the 33rd BCS, She first served as Assistant Commissioner in Satkhira. On March 6, she joined as Upazila Nirbahi Officer in Birla Upazila.

She said fulfilling this administrative responsibility as a woman is a challenge. Because a woman has to fulfill this administrative responsibility by maintaining the society and family. As such, a woman has to perform more responsibilities and work harder than a man. In this case, the family needs a lot of support. She is able to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to her. She added that despite many challenges, it has now become much easier for women to fulfill this administrative responsibility. In many cases women are doing well. She said that she will work to maintain the continuity of women's empowerment while fulfilling this administrative responsibility.

Women have come a long way today. All this has come up in the celebration of International Women's Day in Dinajpur. Women are also running the government at different levels of government.
