With the Eid-ul-Azha approaching near, trading of sacrificial animals by means of digital cattle markets created with a view to avoiding risks associated with physical markets has gained momentum.

Spontaneous participation from both buyers and sellers has shaped the digital platforms like real makeshift cattle markets as people are reluctant to buy sacrificial animals physically from a real market place due to coronavirus.

The government has already launched an online platform-based ‘cattle haat’, believed to be the biggest such platform to reduce buyers and sellers’ sufferings, considering the pandemic situation while other digital e-commerce sites have also started selling sacrificial animals where a large number of sacrificial animals are on display.

Meanwhile, immediately after the inauguration, three members of the parliament have bought sacrificial animals from these sites. Besides the country's buyers, the expatriate Bengalis are also buying sacrificial animals for their relatives living in the country.

Read on to find out all about other sites offering the facility of buying sacrificial animals online.

Digital Haat: On 7 July 2020, Digital Haat was launched as a joint initiative of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division, e-CAB and Bangladesh Dairy Farmers' Association (BDFA). Digital Haat’s website is associated with 51 selling partners.

With a view to meeting the demands of a wide variety of customers, this digital platform is displaying more than 2000 animals available in diverse color, size and price range.

Bikroy.com: For the 6th time Bikroy has organized ‘Birat Haat’. Bikroy has literally expanded the online cattle market across the country.

“We have already more than 1,700 Qurbani animals enlisted on our site. Among those, more than 600 ads are from our selected agro firm members, and the rest of them are from individual firms and private sellers. Already we have sold 500+ animals so far. Our sellers have informed us that many sacrificial animals have already been sold in advance. We are hopeful to sell around 3000 sacrificial animals this year”, Co-Managing Director of Bikroy.com Eshita Sharmin told Bangladesh Post.

Bengal Meat: You can find sacrificial animals from their website within the price range of 30 thousand to 40 lacs. They have cattle of varying size and weight in their collection.

Besides, Palli Qurbanir Haat (jointly formed by Palli Sanchay Bank and One House-One Farm), ajkerdeal.com, Priyoshop.com and many other sites are also trading sacrificial animals.
