The board has suspended the censorship of the film ‘Tungipara Miya Bhai’ based on some significant events in the life of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.  The film was  to be released on March 26 on the occasion of Independence Day.

Earlier on March 14, the production company Shapla Media received the censor clearance.  Selim Khan, the head of the company, said that the suspension order was issued a few days after receiving the clearance.

Vice chairman of the Bangladesh Film Censor Board Jasim Uddin, confirmed the suspension.  However, the censor board did not say anything regarding the reason for suspension.

The producer of the film  Selim Khan, could not explain the reason for the suspension as well.  He said the censor board knows the matter.  I can't say anything about it.

It is learnt that the censor board has reconsidered the order as there are some inconsistencies in the historical events.  As a result, there is uncertainty as to whether the film will be censored at all or when it will be censored.

Meanwhile, the production company of Shapla Media has started a campaign by publishing posters of the film on its Facebook page saying that the film will be released across the country on March 12.  That was before the censor was cleared.  After getting the clearance, the release date was rescheduled for March 26.  But the film is not being released on the scheduled day.

The film is produced by Shamim Ahmed Rony and directed by Selim Khan.  He said the film tells the story of how Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was born in Tungipara, Gopalganj, became the undisputed leader of Bangladesh.

Dighi has played the role of Selimputra Shant Khan and Begum Fazilatunnesa in the role of Bangabandhu.  Other characters include Jayant Chatterjee, Ziaul Hasan Kislu, Shivashanu and many more.
