Gazi Amanullah Khan, a retired professor of physiology at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College, was working as a pathologist at The Central Medical Services, a diagnostic center on Jordan Road in Barisal. Three months ago he fell ill and was hospitalized. He was then taken to Dhaka for advanced treatment. Doctor Gazi Amanullah Khan died on July 19.
In the absence of doctor GaziAmanullah Khan, no pathologist was appointed at The Central Medical Services Center. Instead the patients were given pathology test reports by forging his seal-signature. On the other hand, a doctor who passed MBBS named Nur-e-SarwarSaikatused to see patients at The Central Medical Services Center.
Nur-e-SarwarSaikat has written that he is a medicine, gastrology, arthritis pain, heart, stroke, nose, ear, throat, chest diseases and skin and STD expert in the prescriptions given to the patients. Nur-e-Sarwar has been cheating people like this for a long time. Besides, he used to introduce himself as a doctor at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. In fact, he was neither a doctor nor a student of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College. He has passed MBBS from Mymensingh Medical College.
At around 8pm on Wednesday, an executive magistrate of the district administration, with the help of the RAB, raided The Central Medical Services Center. At this time the information of these frauds came out during the interrogation of RAB. District Civil Surgeon's Office representative doctor MunshiMubinulHaquewas present.
RAB-8 ASP MukurChakma said there was no pathologist at The Central Medical Services Diagnostic Center for the last three months. The center was diagnosing diseases without a pathologist. The doctor and JasimUddinMilon and AK Chowdhury, two owners of The Central Medical Services Diagnostic Center, were arrested and handed over to a mobile court for fraud.
ZiaurRahman, a judge of the mobile court and executive magistrate of the district administration, said that even if there was no pathologist, the owners of the diagnostic center, would sometimes forge signatures and report the pathology test. However, they do not have the minimum skills in pathology. On the other hand, Nur-e-Sarwar was cheating the patients by claiming to beexpert in ten diseases.
