The government will take necessary steps to bring ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina back to the country following arrest warrant issued for her by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).

Md Touhid Hossain, interim government’s adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; made the remarks while talking to journalists at his ministry office in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon, hours after the ICT issued arrest warrant for Sheikh Hasina and top Awami League leaders.

"We have just received the news…We will certainly take necessary steps to brick Sheikh Hasina back in the country,” the adviser told the newsmen.

He also said, “We have one month’s time, and we will take necessary steps (by this time) to this end.”

Asked about Sheikh Hasina’s whereabouts, the foreign adviser said that unofficial sources indicated that the former premier is still in New Delhi of India.

Regarding other Awami League leaders who have fled the country after August 5, Md Touhid Hossain said that the government would also take measures to bring them back to face justice.
