‘Dhaka-Singapore partnership can develop tourism’

The mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh expressed hope for strengthening bilateral relations between Dhaka and Singapore through the development of the tourism industry and cultural exchange, increasing mutual cooperation between Japan's Fukuoka and Dhaka South City Corporation in producing electricity and fertilizer from waste.

On Tuesday at Singapore's Marina Sands Bay Hotel, with the Mayor of Dassik, Barrister Sheikh Tapas, Singapore's Minister for National Development and Minister in charge of Social Services Integration, Singapore, Desmond Lee. And this optimism was expressed in a separate bilateral meeting between the Mayor of Fukuoka Soichiro Takashima (Mayor of Fukuoka Soichiro Takashima).

DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Taposh held his first bilateral meeting with Singapore's National Development Minister Desmond Lee this morning.

In the meeting, the Mayor of DSCC informed about the initiatives taken in formulating a long-term master plan with the aim of a sustainable and climate tolerant city management by coordinating all aspects of city life and taking into account global climate change.

Singapore's development minister said that the initiative to deal with climate change impacts and create a sustainable and long-term master plan in urban management is very 'admirable' and said, "Such a plan and its proper implementation is very important and admirable for urban management.

Through this, Dhaka will overcome the harmful effects of climate change. Besides rising, it will also develop as a climate resilient and modern city."

In the meeting, DSCC Mayor and Singapore's Minister of National Development Desmond Lee expressed optimism about strengthening bilateral relations between Dhaka and Singapore through tourism industry development and cultural exchange.

 In addition, various issues related to the growth of Dhaka-Singapore trade were also discussed in the meeting.

DSCC Mayor Barrister highlighted the overall picture of Bangladesh moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in infrastructure development and economic development of the entire country including Dhaka. In response, the minister praised the economic progress and overall development of Bangladesh.

Later, DSCC Mayor met Soichiro Takashima, Mayor of Fukuoka, Japan in a separate bilateral meeting. At this time, the two mayors talked about the city's waste management. The mayor of Fukuoka highlighted the production of electricity and fertilizer from waste as well as the management of other by-products and hoped for mutual cooperation with Dhaka South City Corporation in this regard. In response, Mayor Dassik thanked the Mayor of Fukuoka and expressed the hope that the two cities will strengthen mutual partnership together and invited the Mayor of Fukuoka to visit Dhaka. The Mayor of Fukuoka accepted the Dassik Mayor's invitation and invited the Dassik Mayor to visit Fukuoka. Dassik expressed his hope that the mayor would visit Fukuoka at an opportune time.

After that, Mayor of DSCC also met with the CEO of Singapore's Urban Development Authority (Urban Development Authority) Engineer Hwee Lim (Eng Hwee Lim) in another bilateral meeting.

At this time, among others, the corporation's chief executive officer, Farid Ahmed, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh appointed in Singapore. Tauhidul Islam and DSCC Mayor's Private Secretary Mohammad Marufur Rashid Khan were present in the bilateral meetings.

Noting that, on July 31, the 4-day World Cities Summit-2022 began at the Marina Sands Bay Hotel in Singapore. The World Cities Summit-2022 will end on August 3. The mayors of 60 countries including the United States, the United States, Australia, Japan, and South Africa are participating in the summit.
