Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent 900 kilograms of mangoes for the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah, the foreign ministry said.
The ‘Amrapali’ mangoes were handed over to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday at the Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei.
Bangladesh and Brunei Darussalam enjoy cordial relations based on shared culture, mutual respect and friendship.
This special consignment arrives from the Prime Minister of Bangladesh at a critical juncture when on 25 June, Bangladesh Prime Minister inaugurated the Padma Bridge and when the celebration of the 76th Birthday of His Majesty is around the corner, on 15 July.
This bodes well for the bright future of the bilateral relations between these two friendly Asian nations.
Bangladesh High Commissioner Nahida Rahman Shumona said that this was a cordial and friendly gesture by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh who made an official visit to Brunei Darussalam on 21-23 April 2019.
She further added that mangoes are produced in large quantities in Bangladesh, and therefore people of Bangladesh love to eat mangos in the same way Bruneian people like it.
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh has chosen the special type of mango called ‘Amrapali’ for His Majesty. She hoped that His Majesty would appreciate the taste and flavor of the mangoes.
