Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has sought support from the Kuwait Development Fund.
He was meeting his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah on the sidelines of an international conference on “Central and South Asia: Regional connectivity, Challenges and opportunities” in Tashkent, the foreign ministry said on Sunday.
Both sides expressed their “happiness” at the level of existing bilateral cooperation.
The Kuwait Foreign Minister proposed to overview the relationships and to form a Joint Committee at Foreign Ministers level.
He also proposed “to assist Bangladesh under Kuwait Development fund”.
Dr. Momen expressed his gratitude to the Kuwait government for supporting a resolution on Human Right Commission to repatriate Rohingya to Myanmar.
The Kuwaiti minister sought Bangladesh’s assistance and cooperation in strengthening health institutions, food security, education, IT and cyber security.
Dr Momen also expressed interest in continuing peacekeeping troops, and establishing a Forum of South-South Finance Development.
Bangladesh also wants to send more skilled workers and create a more favorable environment for Bangladesh businesspersons in Kuwait.
Two leaders expressed their willingness to visit each other’s country once the pandemic situation improved.
