The Bangladesh Railway (BR) authorities resumed train operation on Dhaka-Chattogram route on a limited scale on Monday night.
The decision was taken following an inspection of rail tracks in flood affected areas in eastern parts of the country.
The Director General of Bangladesh Railway, along with the General Manager (East) and other senior departmental officials, carried out the inspection of railway tracks located in Feni district areas on Monday.
Following the inspection, they have informed that the down line from Feni towards Chattogram was restored and made operational for train services.
However, the up line from Chattogram to Feni will require a few more days of work before it can be ready for operations.
Using the single down line between Feni and Chattogram, Chattogram Mail and Turna Nisitha Express will be operated from Dhaka to Chattogram. On the other hand, Dhaka Mail and Turna Nisitha Express will be operated on Chattogram to Dhaka route.
From Tuesday, operations of additional trains along with those already mentioned will resume. Those includes, Mahanagar Provati Express, Subarna Express, Karnaphuli Express on Dhaka to Chattogram route and Mahanagar Provati Express, Subarna Express, and Karnaphuli Express on Chattogram to Dhaka route.
Parjatak Express from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka, Paharika Express and Udayan Express on Chattogram to Sylhet and Chattogram, and Sagarika Express (both up and down) will resume their operation on Chattogram to Chandpur Chattogram.
Besides, fuel tankers and container trains from Chattogram will also resume their operations on the single line.
