The Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has officially launched the registration process for Class IX students, starting on Saturday. Students can fill out registration forms and submit fees for the 2024-25 academic year until November 30. This process will take place online.
According to the board's notification, only students aged between 12 and 18 can register.
Fee breakdown
The registration fee for Class IX is now set at Tk 296, an increase from last year’s fee of Tk 171.
Additional fees include: Tk 100 for the retirement and welfare trust fund for private retired teachers and staff; Tk 25 for Scouts (up from Tk 15); Tk 15 for Girls Guides (new fee); Tk 80 registration fee; Tk 50 sports fee; Tk 5 for science and technology; Tk 16 for the Red Crescent; and Tk 5 for BNCC.
Students can still register after the deadline by paying a late fee of Tk 140. Registration forms must be completed on the Dhaka Board's website using the institution's EIIN and password, with payment made through Sonali Seba.
Registration eligibility
This year, only students who have passed the eighth-grade annual examination are eligible to register. Students must confirm their age eligibility and consult with guardians about group selection—humanities, science, or business studies—before submitting a written application to their headmaster.
Important procedures
The board mandates that each school form a three-member committee of teachers to oversee the registration process. After completing online registration, the committee will verify the admission forms and certificates against the final list before submission. The final list must be printed and kept at the school. Any discrepancies in student information will lead to action against the head of the institution.
Schools have from November 1 to November 30 to complete online registrations. Additionally, the Education Board requires that the ESIF be filled out within 24 hours of depositing fees. Failure to register by the deadline or any resulting issues will be the responsibility of the educational institution's head.
