The countdown to winter has begun in northern Bangladesh, particularly in Dinajpur, Panchagarh and Thakurgaon with dewdrops on the leaves at dawn and dusk signaling the advent of winter in the region.
The night and day temperatures have started falling steadily in the districts, However, overall temperature will reduce gradually in November, said officials of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The rural people have already started experiencing the cool of winter in the northern part of the country. Temperature in different upazilas of Dinajpur is decreasing day by day.
Talking to Bangladesh Post on Saturday (October 21), Md. Ismail Hossain of West Shibrampur village under No. 1 Chehelgazi Union of Dinajpur said that the entire area is covered with fog in the morning. They need to use ceiling fans when they go to bed in the early hours of the night, but blankets have to be put on after midnight.
Dewdrops keep falling on the tin roofs with sound from dawn, meaning that winter is coming in this district, he added.
Some other villagers of the district said that people of the northern region, especially Dinajpur, have started experiencing the cool in the midnight and dawn time, as winter has announced its imminent approach.
PramillaMurmu, a local resident of Guchch village of DinajpurSadar Upazila, said that as the evening
approaches, people start to feel cold. As the night deepens, the fog and cold increase. The intensity of winter increases from midnight.
As winter is coming in the northern district, pitha-puli sellers are having a busy time in the different upazilas of Dinajpur district and nearby districts.
During this time, the farmers remain busy bringing home the crops. However, the Nabanna festival takes place at that time.
