Laptops when portability is needed and desktops when performance is needed. Depending on your needs you have to decide whether to buy a laptop or a desktop. Also, you can decide between desktop and laptop by considering several factors.
College or university students need a computer to do homework, various projects or assignments. Many people suffer from indecision whether to buy a laptop or a desktop when they want to buy a computer. Laptop and desktop both have different advantages. When comparing laptops and desktops, desktops will be ahead due to performance. On the other hand, laptops have several advantages. Especially, everyone prefers laptops for portability. There are also several differences between laptops and desktop computers. If you are a student, should you buy a laptop or should you buy a desktop, there are several important things to know. Desktop computers will be ahead of laptops in terms of performance. When buying a desktop computer, each part of the CPU can be purchased separately to build a desktop. Besides, good quality monitor, good sound system, everything can be purchased separately.
On the other hand, when it comes to buying a laptop, not everything goes as planned. Having the option to buy as many features as you like won't fit the budget. Because of the high specification laptop price is relatively high. However, the price of high specification used laptops is slightly lower. Hence, desktop computers will be ahead in terms of performance compared to laptops.
A desktop computer consists of several devices including CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse, sound system. Therefore, a table must always be left. So, if you want to go somewhere for work, you cannot take a desktop computer with you. As a result, a laptop needs to be purchased separately if a computer is needed for work and to be carried around.
Laptops will be ahead in terms of portability. Because, working on the table at home, lying down or sitting on your lap, you can take it anywhere and work. So, those who need to carry, go out to work, they can buy a laptop.
Desktop computers can add more than one internal storage, while laptops can add one or two internal storages. Laptops have one or two hard disk or SSD slots. But, desktop computers have few slots available for adding internal storage. As a result, those who need more storage may prefer a desktop computer.
Monitors must be purchased separately on desktop computers. Hence, one can purchase large size monitors if desired. Depending on the job, anyone can buy a screen size monitor according to their needs. But, in the case of laptops, this opportunity does not exist.
Laptops have a screen size limit of 10 inches to 17 inches. As a result, whichever laptop you buy, the screen size will be between 10 and 17 inches. If you need a larger laptop, you will need to purchase a desktop and get a larger monitor.
Graphics cards can be added separately to desktop computers. Besides, graphics card can be changed anytime to add new and powerful upgraded graphics card. But, in the case of laptops, such benefits are not available.
As a result, those who do video editing or graphics design and other work that requires a graphics card, will not work if they buy a laptop. They have to buy desktop computers. By doing this, they can add graphics card as they want. On the other hand, laptops don't have good quality graphics cards. As a result, heavy and large graphics related tasks are difficult to do with a laptop.
The desktop computer has a very good cooling system so the computer doesn't get too hot and the performance doesn't drop. As a result, the computer can be kept on for longer periods of time. But, as the laptop does not have much cooling system, it overheats and needs to purchase a separate cooling fan for cooling.
Laptop prices are relatively lower than desktop PCs in the current market of Bangladesh. A laptop is sufficient for all the work that a student usually needs to do. However, there are some minor tasks that need to be done on a desktop PC. In that case a good quality desktop PC will be required. A good quality desktop PC price can be a little more than a laptop.
If you are a student, then laptop will be best for you. Because, students can easily carry laptop for their personal work including project work, assignment works, homework. This is not possible in case of desktop computer.
You can easily go anywhere with the laptop in your hand or in your bag and you can work anywhere sitting or lying down if you want. But, this is not possible for desktop computers. As a result, students can take a laptop to college or university but not a desktop.
Computers are required to be taken to college/university for many tasks including presentations. Therefore, between desktop and laptop for students, buying a laptop would definitely be best. By buying a laptop, students can also do freelancing with it in addition to their college/varsity work.
