Dense fog disrupts flight operation

Air communication were disrupted in the country on Friday due to heavy fog. Several flights could not land the airport since midnight while a good number of flights’ take off was also delayed. 

Three flights from Saudi Arabia and Malaysia could not landHazratShahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka due to dense fog. The planes flew in the sky of Dhaka for about six hours and finally made their landing in India and Myanmar.

The runway of Dhaka airport was not visible since 2 am on Thursday (December 29) due to fog. As a result, several planes have to be in trouble. In between, two flights from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia landed at Kolkata airport in India and Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia landed at Myanmar’s Yangon airport despite not being able to see the runway after circling the sky of Dhaka for a long time. 

According to airport sources, flight landing and takeoff operations were stopped from midnight due to fog. Flight operation returned to its normal situation after about 

 six hours. Apart from this, the flights arriving in Dhaka were diverted to nearby airports during foggy conditions. 

According to the airport, the schedule of about 15 to 20 international and domestic flights from Dhaka has been disrupted due to dense fog. Due to which three flights could not land in Dhaka and landed in India and Myanmar. Till filling the report flight operation become normal.  

Dense fog has disrupted air traffic in Delhi, India also. According to NDTV, about 100 flights could not leave on time due to dense fog. Hundreds of flights left Delhi late due to three days of bad weather, the Delhi Airport Authority said on Wednesday.
