Two more people died from dengue fever across the country during the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 1,688 this year.
Among the new deaths, one was reported in the capital and another was outside Dhaka.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), some 196 patients were hospitalised with viral fever during this period.
Among the new patients, 40 were admitted to the hospital in the capital and 156 were outside it.
A total of 1,337 patients are currently receiving treatment from different hospitals across the country.
As many as 3,19,671 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country this year and 3,16,646 out of the hospitalised patients, however, recovered during the period.
The country recorded 281 dengue deaths in 2022, the highest on record after the 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Additionally, the DGHS recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
