The Jahangirnagar University (JU) anti-discrimination student movement formed a human chain to demand that all forms of party affiliation and leftist politics be outlawed for students, teachers, administrators, and staff members on campus. They also called for early elections in Jahangirnagar University Central Students Union (JUCSU).
On Monday, the human chain was held at the foot of the university's central Shaheed Minar. Ahsan Labib, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement at Jahangirnagar University, spoke in a human chain.
Students claimed that individuals participating in university politics in the past had never looked out for their own interests. People whose time as students is over are attempting to reintroduce sedentary politics on campus. The anti-discrimination movement's students said that they would not permit this kind of student politics to proliferate on campus.
As stated Arif Sohail, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement at JU, revolutionary students across are contributing to the setting up of a new nation and state. There should be discipline in universities. Whether or not university politics are going to succeed it is imperative to determine how it will operate. Universities served as epicenters for anti-colonial protests. Universities are now factories where equitable rights are accomplished. Universities ought to be designed to prepare their students for careers in research, education, and the economy of the twenty-first century. In order for students to represent Bangladesh in fields like as science, research, foreign affairs, and state management.
He added that the world is being led by students at excellent higher educational institutions. There isn't any staff or teacher politics. Playing dirty politics with the students is not an option. Currently, institutions of education should be examined in order to establish universities in sovereign nations. The university need to be founded as a center for research and education. Since independence, no university has experienced robust student politics. He then called for the election of student senatorial representatives and the JUCSU election to take place as soon as possible.
