An employee of private television channel Deepto TV was strangled to death in his house in the Hatirjheel area of the capital on Thursday over a dispute with land developers.
The victim was identified as Tanjil Jahan Islam Tamim, 32, a resident of the Mohanagar Project area under Hatirjheel police station.
The incident took place at an eight-story building on Road 4, D Block, in the Mohanagar Project area.
Hatirjheel Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said Tanjil was killed over conflict with a land developer company, and they arrested three people, including an engineer, over the matter. “The father of the deceased and two others handed over a piece of land for development. They had a conflict with the developer company over the ownership of flats. On Thursday, people from the developer company entered the building with outsiders and beat the landowners. At one stage, they strangulated Tanjil, which led to his death,” said the OC.
Hearing the news, police rushed to the spot and arrested three people, including an engineer.
Saiful Islam said, “We are investigating the incident. The dead body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College mortuary.”
