Further instructions regarding the extension of ongoing restriction imposed to curb coronavirus transmission would be given after one week, said State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain.

The state minister came up with the assertion while responding to a question from reporters at his office in the secretariat on Monday.

Farhad Hossain also said, “Everyone has to wear a mask. We are passing a critical time and we have to get over it. Health experts are saying that the transmission will continue to rise till mid-February. We must be aware of the matter. Everyone has to deal with the third wave of coronavirus by following the health guidelines properly.”

When asked if the restrictions could be increased after February 6, the state minister said, “It will depend on the situation. The Omicron variant takes a less time to recover than other variants of coronavirus. The recovery rate is very good. More than 85 percent of the affected people are being recovered after taking treatment at home. We will give further instructions next week after observing the severity of the infection.”

He said, “Everyone has to abide by the restrictions imposed by the government. Europe has passed their peak time in terms of infection. Our peak time started a bit later. It is better if the government instructions are followed properly by all. We also need to cooperate with those who are in the transport sector. All should use the public transports according to the rules.”

To prevent Covid-19 infection, the cabinet department has issued instructions to manage government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices with half the number of officers and employees following the hygiene rules from Monday.

Regarding this the state minister for public administration said, “Implementation of the instruction to work with half manpower has started from Monday. Government, semi-government, autonomous, and non-government organisations have to operate with half the number of officers and employees. Covid-19 infections are on the rise. The infection rate was 31 percent on Sunday.”
