Dealer held with 171 sacks of rice

Police have detained Asaduzzaman, a dealer with 171 sacks of 10 Tk Kg rice from Natore's Shingra upazila on Wednesday noon. He was arrested from Satpukuria area of the upazila. The detained Asaduzzaman is the son of the deceased Aser Ali of Satpukuria area and the uncle Ariful Islam, Chairman of Italy union.

Meanwhile, Upazila food officer Abdus Salam Biswas has sent a letter to the OC of Shingra police station to protect the dealer Asaduzzaman. Shingra Police Station Officer-in-Charge Noor-A-Alam said police raided an abandoned godown in Italy Union's Satpukuria area based on secret information of 10 Tk kg rice being stocked in there. Later, 171 sack of rice were seized and Asaduzzaman was detained from there. Legal action is being taken in this regard, the OC added.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasrin Akhter Banu said, “The food department did not inform me about the stocking of rice. I instructed the OC to take legal action against the detained dealer”. Earlier, rice theft occurred at Shukash Union in Shingra upazila A UP member and a rice dealer were sued in that case.
