Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested 10 persons, including a female upazila vice-chairman, in connection with question paper leaking and cheating with digital devices in a government recruitment test.
AKM Hafiz Akhter, additional commissioner (detectives) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, disclosed it while addressing at a press briefing at DMP media centre on Saturday.
Among the arrestees, Mahbuba Nasrin Rupa is the vice-chairman of Dupchachia upazila in Bogura while Mahmudul Hasan Azad is a suspended officer of Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh.
The other arrestees includes examinees of the test, students who have expertise in solving questions, Hafiz said.
They were identified as Noman Siddique, Al Amin Rony, Nahid Hasan, Shahid Ullah, Tanjir Ahmed, Razu Ahmed, Hasibul Hasan and Rakibul Hasan.
They were arrested from different parts of the city. DB personnel also seized six digital devices, three leaked question papers and some smart phones from their possessions.
Apart from collecting clients, Mahbuba also took part in the Friday's examination of Office of Controller General Defence Finance.
The syndicate leaked questions soon after test began at 3:00pm Friday. They were providing answers to their clients through the digital devices.
The gang made an agreement with their clients of Tk 14 to 16 lakh for providing a job through the fraudulent activities. They took a small amount first for helping them in passing yesterday's multiple-choice questions (MCQ) test and would take the rest during viva and after joining the job.
As the test started at 3:00pm, they collected the questions and sent to their one-stop centre where they solved those and provided answers through the devices.
